So maybe it isn't the one?

I am now posting on another site at: www.dvycrkkt.elandresources.com this is run by a good friend of mine where I have more control of my posts. Let me know what you think, but I will probably switch to it soon.

It has been a great couple of weeks for our family! We had a great time at the Iron Horse Hike with the Cub Scouts at Potato Creek State Park two week-ends ago. My two boys and I went on a two mile hike with some good friends. We learned about Nicknames for railroad things along the way. Like what do you call the guy who shovels coal into the furnace on the train? (A Bakehead)

Last week we went camping at McCormick’s Creek State Park near Spencer Indiana. What a wonderful time! The weather was perfect and we all had a great time! The boys particularly enjoyed Wolf Cave (A small cave in the park which is a pretty tight squeeze for an adult but great for the boys).

While working on Bible Quizzing questions my wife asked my youngest who was Abraham his answer was “Our fourth father”. We had a good laugh because it was supposed to be our forefather!

Quiz Bang!

Another great week-end gone by; Saturday morning we had a Bible Quiz meet at out church with several other churches. It was great to see kids of all ages quoting God’s word. My two boys are on a quiz team with other kindergarten thru 2nd graders, and they did wonderful! My oldest received two perfect quiz out’s and one imperfect out of the four quizzes they did. A perfect quiz out is where they answer five correct questions with no errors, and imperfect is with errors. It took him most of last year to get one perfect quiz out, Good Job Cardin! My youngest son, in kindergarten, answered several correct. This is excellent since it was his first time quizzing. Last year we had most of the kids on the verge of tears the first quiz. It can be quite nerve-wracking, your palms are sweaty, your heart is pounding answers and questions are running thru your head, and that’s just the parents! Good Job Reece!

We also went out to sell Cub Scout/Trails end popcorn. The boys sold about $400 worth of popcorn in just a couple of hours! I had them go to the door and give their spiel and then I would step up to answer the tough questions. It was a good experience; they even had a few rejections. They are good little salesmen.

Last but no least church was very good. God never ceases to amaze me when he is so faithful to me in my teaching! He gives me just the right words to try to pull the class in and teach them about God. We have been talking about how when we accept Christ as the leader of our lives we don’t need to be a slave to sin anymore. We have all of God’s power within us to say no to sin and yes to God. The problem is that we still have a sin nature inside of us and an enemy, the Devil, who wants to convince us we are powerless! If you have Jesus in your heart you do not have to listen to the deceiver anymore! You are a child of God! It is pretty tough stuff for a thirty eight year old to grasp let alone a 5th and 6th grader, but I know God is good and he is doing great things in their hearts.

And then, BANG, the week-end was gone! Too fast!

I think this may be the one?

I have been using another blog for some time with one drawback, you couldn't comment unless you were a user with that blog. So , I think this may be the one to switch to?

Anyway, I helped a friend de-model my mother-in-law's bathroom on Sunday. Yes we removed the vanity and cabinets and a corner tub. We were also planning on removing a shower unit till he thought of measuring it. We had it most of the way unattached when we checked, too big! The highlight was when I "sweated" eight endcaps on to the existing copper pipe, and not one leaked! It was very fulfilling for a guy wo mostly chases a mouse around a desk most of the time to get back to working with my hands. I also found a few muscles that I had lost touch with and they are letting me know about it now! Thank gooddness for ibuprohen.

David's de-modeling tip: Measure all exits before removing any large items (e.g. Shower units, tubs).

15 screamin' kids

We had a great time this week-end with 15 screamin' kids! My oldest son had a birthday party and invitied 15 of his favorite friends. After decorating racecars made from cardboard boxes and a "Grand Canyon Hike" we raced around the front yard! Then finished up with a race track decorated cake and ice-cream, and roasted marshmallows over an open fire. Nothing could have been better! Happy Birthday son, we love you!
